Inspired by ancient Egyptian mythology and the cosmic story of creation, this piece explores themes of creation, renewal, life, and the connection between nature and the cosmos.
The embroidery brings together symbolic elements from the Egyptian creation myth, including Nut, the sky goddess, the cosmic egg, the goose, lotus-inspired forms, and the reflection of the Nile. The goose and lotus motifs represent life and renewal, while the wheat motifs reflect fertility, nourishment, and abundance. The mirrored arrangement references the reflection of the Nile, bringing balance and continuity to the design.
This piece is part of Karama, a project celebrating Egyptian-inspired design and craftsmanship. The embroidery was crafted by the women of Stabl Antar, bringing the story of ancient Egyptian symbolism into a contemporary garment.
